How to get started in RC Flying

If you are new to the Sport of RC Flying, or you haven't tried RC flying, but are interested, here are some links to get you started.

 AMA

  •  "AMA " The Academy of Model Aeronautics is the organization in which membership is required at most flying sites including our NMRCC field. The AMA provides liability coverage to the club and to the individual members plus the AMA offers many member services. Check out all of their website specific areas, especially the "About the AMA" link.

RC Flying Info

first RC TRAINER Airplane

  • If you've already decided and bought that first RC TRAINER Airplane and need some help then first off, come see us at the field. Several members are good at getting you started with flying.
  • Some of the recommended Trainers are Hangar 9 "Alpha" & "Arrow", "Sig LT-40", "Tower Trainer", "Hobbico Avistar", and the "Hobbico NexSTAR".
  • Another consideration that goes with the choice of these complete Trainer packages is the Radio Type and Brand. Talking to Club Members can help you understand and decide the options before you invest.
  • Just in case you need something to read that explains more about the basic of Aerodynamics, controlling the aircraft, simple turns, and much more BEFORE your first flight then go to the Flight Training page at  the "Palos RC Flying Club - AMA Charter Club #263" where you will find their Student Pilot Instruction Manual and their Beginners Guide to RC Flying.

CLUB HELP

  • For now, the NMRCC would like to welcome you to the Sport of RC Flying. There is just so much more out here in the WWW but these links will get you started. Come on out and join us at the field to talk with us and we will get you going. The Sky is the Limit to the choices you have in types of airplanes and styles of flying so there is something out there that will give you a lifetime of flying experience and enjoyment.
